In-App Purchase (IAP)
Additional purchases made within an app
In-app purchases refer to the additional content and features available to purchase within an app. There are four types of in-app purchases:
Consumables
Consumable in-app purchases become depleted once used and can be purchased multiple times. Examples include additional lives or gems to use on premium features within an app.
Non-consumables
Unlike consumables, non-consumables, such as premium or additional content, are purchased once and do not expire.
Auto-renewable subscriptions
Users have the option to pay, on a recurring basis, for ongoing access to features within an app. Common examples include access to media, fitness, education, and SaaS content.
Nonrenewing subscriptions
Subscriptions that do not auto-renew, are often seen in mobile games, such as season passes. Nonrenewing subscriptions will last for a length of time and then the content will become redundant.
