Clickbait is widely used as a marketing tactic to entice new users through links and ads.

In mobile app marketing, clickbait is characterized through ad creatives. Often, with larger app publishers and mobile games, ads are misconstrued to advertise gameplay that bears little relation to the actual product. They are also referred to as fake gameplay ads.
